Things that get decided about people in active addiction, usually without anybody asking one. I source everything and I date it, and when I check a popular claim and it does not hold up, I say so rather than repeating it because it helps my argument.

The opioid settlements are worth more than fifty eight billion. A fifth of the spending cannot be traced, seven states out of fifty publish real receipts, and nobody has the authority to enforce any of it. I went looking for the story about police cars and found a worse one.

I do not name treatment centers that are operating today, good or bad. The moment I do that this stops being writing and starts being advertising.
